Kate sure is a neat little dog, if I could just keep her out of my Koi Pond!
This morning I caught her "fishing" for pine cones in it. Her game goes like
this... Drop the pinecone into the pond, let the current move it around the
pond, JUMP in and fish it out. What a silly silly girl.
Well i have story to tell of my Katie.... We have a class out here every year called "Best of Washington State Bred" To qualify for class you must have been born in Wash. The NWAPBT club promotes it heavily and offers both ribbons and trophies and also certficates for the breeders. Well, Katie took the Under 1 year puppy award, she even beat a Top Ten rat!
When it was time to compete for the Best of show against the other best of breds, Katie took the ring with the APBT and Eskie fluff ball. I have been participating and watching this class for 4 years and the APBT has always taken it, The odds were against us. Katie finishes her table, does her down and back and is 3/4ths of the way around the ring when a mole pops up out of the ground in front of her... forgetting i am in the conformation ring i say GET IT KATIE!
Pounce snap shake shake toss...
Pounce snap shake shake toss...
Pounce, Look what i have Mommy!
I could not believe it, My baby had just made her first kill and .... oh my gosh... I am in the ring....I looked over at Judge Walter Pasco who nods his head in disbelief and points me back in
line. The last time around the trophy goes to Katie! Even as i write this i can not believe this really happened... what an afternoon!
Katie came home from this 3 show weekend with 3 majors! She just needs point to finish her championship, Way to go little girl.
Marcia Meyers and I made the 13 hour trip down to Antiot California for a 4 show weekend. We took Top ten Contender Macy, her sister Morgan and their Aunt Katie. We had a fun time in the sun at the fairground. On Saturday 2nd show Katie championed and Macy was the Best of Breed Rat Terrier picking up another 16 top ten points. On Sunday, Morgan picked up a Best of Winners under J. Allen. Katie moved up to the Champion class. With 7 champions in the class I was very surprised that Katie was awarded the Champion ribbon. I was even more surprised that she beat her Father Prince the #1 Top Ten Dog for the Best in Breed. We did not stay around for Best in Show but hit the road back to Seattle. We had a great time visiting with all of the California Crowd!
